Dr. Gabriela Pérez Báez is a professor of linguistics at the University of Oregon. Gabriela is one of the most prominent members of the field. After serving many years as the Curator for Linguistics and the Director of the ‘Recovering Voices’ program at the Smithsonian, Gabriela became a professor at the University of Oregon. She is a leading voice in indigenous language revitalization, having received dozens of grants and awards for her research. She recently gave the plenary talk for the UNESCO “Making a Decade of Action for Indigenous Languages” event and she serves as a language expert consultant for UNESCO.
